WASHINGTON, D.C. — New polling from KFF underscores just how deeply the high cost of prescription drugs is harming Americans across the country. Findings include:
This is the largest share since KFF began polling the question in 2018.
Increase from the 31% in a KFF poll three years ago.
64% of adults taking four or more prescription drugs worry about affording their costs.
30% of Hispanic families report being worried about affording prescription drugs.
72% say there should be more government regulation limiting the cost of prescription drugs — including 68% of Republicans.
“Prescription drug affordability remains a top concern for Americans, forcing far too many to skip or ration medications to make ends meet,” said Merith Basey, CEO of Patients For Affordable Drugs. “When nearly three in four voters say they want stronger government action to limit drug prices, it’s a clear sign that the status quo isn’t working. The takeaway for lawmakers should be clear: reforms that lower drug prices align with voter priorities across party lines and represent an urgent life and death issue for many families.”

Patients For Affordable Drugs is the only national patient advocacy organization focused exclusively on policies that lower prescription drug prices. We empower and mobilize patients by amplifying their experiences with high drug prices to hold those in power to account and fight to shape and achieve system-changing policies that make prescription drugs affordable for all people in the United States. P4AD does not accept funding from organizations that profit from the development and distribution of drugs. To learn more, visit PatientsForAffordableDrugs.org
