Audrey McLean’s Testimony

Patient Testimonies | March 19, 2026

As a woman in her 30s, living in New Jersey, and working a full time job, I am well aware of the impact that high drug costs can have.

I have been on Lisinopril, a high blood pressure medication, since I was 26 years old because of my proclivity for and past history of a stroke. I am also diagnosed with a range of other medical conditions that without the proper drugs, including Vyvanse and Buspirone, would make living a productive, happy, and healthy life impossible.

After it came to light that I had a stroke back when I was 16 years old, my birth control medication shot up to around $900 a month. That’s not even mentioning how all my other medications have been on a steady and not so subtle price increase for the past decade or so, which is insane. Thus, my rising prescription drug prices slowly but surely have made it near impossible, even as a hard working blue collar individual such as myself, to afford the medications that keep me alive and able to function.

My medications are the reason my life is able to function, and their rising costs have impacted my mental wellbeing and quality of life. Still, they are also the reason I am alive today.

This is why I believe we should all have the opportunity to survive and live our best and most productive lives with affordable prescription drug prices.

We all need affordability now.
