Type 1 Diabetes

“I am a Type 1 Diabetic who needs a steady dose of insulin throughout the day to stay alive. I need one to two vials of Humalog every month. Each vial costs $250 before I meet my annual deductible. Last year, one of my bills for a three month supply of Humalog was $921! And that’s just for the insulin. The cost of managing my chronic disease continues to go up when you factor in all of my diabetes devices and supplies: test strips, Omnipod pods, Omnipod insulin pump, Dexcom continuous glucose monitor, Dexcom sensors, Dexcom transmitter, adhesive removal pads, batteries, alcohol swabs, and glucose tablets. Diabetes is a major investment and it’s breaking the bank!”
