“My husband and I are on numerous medications and the costs are high. We are seniors and our income is limited. We are also parenting grandchildren on limited resources.
This makes life difficult but we have to keep going for the sake of the children, and have to maintain a cheerful outlook. This gets harder with each passing year. Without these medications we would lose our lives, so we do not have a choice as to whether we use them or not.
Unfortunately our story is not unusual. We belong to a Grandparents Group at ENOA – Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging – where several grandparents are raising children, despite very advanced ages and despite many disabilities of our own, or our childrens’. But we continue.”
